Before we were Grace Community Church of Beecher City, we were Evangel United Methodist, which was formally the Olive Branch Methodist Church, a half mile east of Holland, IL.
In 1887, the church was moved to Beecher City and in 1966 the Beecher City Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical Brethren Church of Beecher City and together became Evangel UMC. Both church buildings were used, one for education and the other for worship until a new vision for the church came into fruition in the early 1970s.
Through prayer, pastoral leadership, and determination of many church members and trustees, the first service in the new church building took place on Mother’s Day in 1971.
Through the years of many different phases of denominational changes, we have remained a multi-generational church body, eager to serve our community and ready to see what God has in store for us.
We do everything for the glory of God, and in memory of all those saints who came before us and set the standard on how to live together as a church body.
